Mountain Mudd Expands

The Mountain Mudd Espresso drive-through specialty coffee brand is expanding into Long Island, N.Y., through a retail partnership with RMT Specialty Coffees and its owner, Ralph Tasso, according to CHS Inc. The first phase of the plan includes opening two Mountain Mudd kiosks in early 2010 in Suffolk County, followed by additional openings in Nassau, Queens and Brooklyn. By 2014, a total of 50 stores will be open in Long Island, according to Gary Braaten, president of Mountain Mudd operations for CHS.

“We are excited about welcoming New York into our network,” says Braaten. “This new contract is part of our planned growth on the East Coast, as well as worldwide. Our mission is to become the premier drive-thru specialty coffee retailer globally. Already the Mountain Mudd Espresso franchise is registered in all 50 states and four countries, and offers the same great experience and delectable products whether you order your latte in Long Island or Lebanon.”

New York coffee drinkers “are connoisseurs,” says Jackie Mota, national sales manager for Mountain Mudd. “We know that our flavors — along with our tremendous convenience — will impress them.”
