Read the Full StoryRecently on the floor of the U.S. Senate Arizona’s two senators questioned Senator Jon Tester, trying to dispute a $900,000 earmark funding a new emergency operations center in northwest Montana. Arizona Senators Kyl and McCain questioned Tester’s earmark and proposed an amendment to strike the earmark from the Homeland Security Appropriations bill. The Senators argued that the federal dollars allocated for border protection are limited, and it made no sense to devote that much funding to the U.S.-Canadian border. Tester pointed out the Emergency Operations Center was not pork. The amendment was defeated.
